Frank Kilvington's slides

Photographs of St Albans housed in the library

Frank Kilvington (1924-2009) was probably best known in St Albans for being Headmaster of St Albans School from 1964 to 1984. But this was only one of many positions that he held. He was President of SAHAAS and later its Honorary Secretary. Throughout his time in St Albans, he lectured, wrote and encouraged others to explore the history of this city.

The Arc and Arc is very fortunate that he donated his large collection of slides to the Society’s library for the use of members and other researchers. The collection has now been catalogued. One index is a list of the slides as they appear in the trays. The second index lists them according to subject matter (and this broadly follows Frank’s own classification system).
