Contents of Early Publications & Transactions

The Society was formed in 1845 and for the first few years it published occasional Proceedings on specific topics. In 1883 the Society published its first volume of Transactions and these continued until 1961. From 1968 the Transactions were replaced by Hertfordshire Archaeology (now Hertfordshire Archaeology and History).

Most users have Microsoft Word which provides a simple way to look through the list and do basic search operations. The table is in four columns on landscape A4 pages.

  • You can look at it on-line ...
  • ... or download it to manipulate on your own computer.
  • Open it with Word, type Control_F, then fill in a word you want to find.
  • A table in a Word document can be sorted using up to three columns.
  • Column widths can be changed (within the total width of landscape A4) or columns deleted.
  • It can be printed – but check how many pages there are before starting a long print job!
