The Independent Chapel

A Christian sect, flourishing today in St Albans, came into existence 400 years ago despite the harsh punishments given to those who would not follow the state religion.
The members of the Independent Chapel, Spicer Street, St Albans, are proud of their vigorous history.  About 400 years ago they were one of several new sects which held that connection between church and state was wrong.
