The Mayor's Prize, 2011
Awarded to Jon Mein
The Assessors were unanimous in awarding the prize for 2011 to Jonathan Mein for his submission The Rise and Fall of the Pub in Victorian St Albans.
The Assessors were:
- Professor Michael Cooper, President of the Society
- Brenda Bolton (University of London)
- Dr Giles Brown (Westminster School)
- Professor Tim Connell (Fellow of Gresham College)
- Gill Harvey (local historian and leader of the Society’s library team)
There were three other submissions covering:
- detective work on a 12th century vellum manuscript belonging to St Albans School
- the 16th-century Rowbotham family and their connections with St Albans
- the whereabouts of St Alban’s bones.
All four submissions have been deposited in the Society's library.
