The Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies Library (HALS) is the custodian of the most extensive archival collection in the county, much valued by researchers from the Society amongst others.

HALS is the archive department of Hertfordshire County Council. Its holdings include records from across the county, including the St Albans Borough Archive and many others, both official and private in origin. Records are available to consult free of charge.
