External lecture: Place-names and the early administrative structure of Hertfordshire
May 15, 2021 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM at Zoom
This year’s Lionel Munby Memorial Lecture will be given by Dr John Baker as part of the AGM of the Hertfordshire Association for Local History (HALH).
The lecture will explore the use of place-names within a broader interdisciplinary framework and consider what ‘onomastics’ – the study of history and origin of proper names – can contribute to our understanding of the processes that led to the emergence of Hertfordshire.
Members of HALH will be contacted by email nearer the time with an invitation to register for the meeting. Priority will be given to HALH members who register before a specified date. After that date, the event will be opened up and non-members given the opportunity to register. SAHAAS members will receive an ‘enews’ message at this point inviting them to register. Further details will follow in due course.
If you are not a member of HALH, please consider joining. You will be supporting the association’s valuable work in promoting the study and enjoyment of history in Hertfordshire.
