February 13, 2024 7:45 PM - 9:00 PM at Zoom only
Zoom only
This talk presents research results from survey and excavation in the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site. In addition to the known sites of Ring of Brodgar, Stones of Stenness and the settlements of Ness of Brodgar and Barnhouse, remote sensing has revealed a remarkable array of further complexity of this outstanding landscape.
Professor Jane Downes is Director of the UHI Archaeology Institute based in Orkney. She is an archaeologist who has undertaken survey and excavation within the Orkney World Heritage area, as well as research in the Pacific islands of the Cook Islands, Niue and Rapa Nue (Easter Island) and is an expert on climate change and its impact on heritage globally.
