Lecture: Shapes from a Plane - LiDAR, Archaeology and Citizen Science

at Church and Live-streamed via Zoom

Speaker: Dr Wendy Morrison

‘Beacons of the Past’ was a project lasting four and a half years part funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), the Chiltern Society, and the National Trust, amongst others. Its purpose was to engage and inspire communities to discover, conserve, and enjoy the Chilterns’ Iron Age hillforts and their prehistoric chalk landscapes. With the project’s conclusion, Dr Wendy Morrison will present some of the results of the UK’s largest bespoke archaeological LiDAR survey, the project’s outreach programmes, and what comes next.

Wendy has worked for the last four and a half years as Project Manager of the ‘Beacons of the Past’ project. She is also Senior Associate Tutor for Archaeology at Oxford University’s Department for Continuing Education. Wendy’s research areas are Prehistoric European Archaeology and Landscape Archaeology. She has over a decade excavation experience in southern Britain, the Channel Islands, and India and is a fellow of the Society of antiquaries.

This talk will held at Marlborough Road Methodist Church and live streamed via Zoom. Please register via our Eventbrite page – to be announced.
