Arrangements for Society lectures and seminars

Lectures

The Society offers a free programme of lectures for Members between September and May; non-members may also attend most by paying £5. Each lecture will last about 45 minutes, and will be followed by a Q&A session.

The delivery of lectures will vary between Church only, Church plus live-steaming via Zoom, and Zoom only. The aim is that the first lecture each month will be held in the Church plus being live-streamed via Zoom; the second lecture each month will be Zoom only; whilst the third will be Church only. On occasion this pattern may vary; any changes to the programme will be notified on our web site and via e-news.

Members will be sent a link to Eventbrite for each lecture (non-members can find this in the event listing on the website). Please register through Eventbrite, whether you plan to attend the Church in person or view via Zoom. Non-members should pay the £5 due when registering through Eventbrite.

We will continue to offer occasional lectures that non-members can attend without charge. These will be publicised on our website.

When you register via Eventbrite to view a lecture on Zoom, you will be sent a link a few days beforehand. On the day, you can log in from about 7.40pm. Please remember to switch off the audio and video to avoid inadvertent interference with the lecture.

Seminars

From time to time, the Society may offer a programme of seminars. These will be notified on the website. Seminars start at 2.30pm and are open to members only - no more than 25 on each occasion to allow a reasonable chance for those attending to contribute. You can log in from about 2.25pm onwards. Each seminar will last about 60 minutes and will comprise a short talk by the presenter, followed by a discussion mediated by the convenor.
