Welcome to our new website!

Note from the webteam

We hope that you enjoy browsing the new website of the St Albans and Hertfordshire Architectural and Archaeological Society, which was ‘soft launched’ on 31 May 2019. Over the course of the next few months, we will be bedding in the website and tackling any infelicities. Please bear with us as we undertake this work.

We shall be adding new content to the website, and migrating more content from the old website to this one. We have taken the opportunity to remove some webpages of transient interest (e.g. notices for forthcoming events organised by third parties that took place long ago).

The search engine for our website is powered by Google. It should deliver good results when Google’s bots have trawled through the website. It will work even better when the webteam has had a chance to enter more ‘keywords’ on pages within the website – that is likely to take a few weeks from launch. In the meantime, we hope that you find that the structure of the new website makes it easier to track down what you’re looking for.

The platform we have adopted for our website (WordPress) is designed to improve accessibility for people who may find using the web difficult, for instance, because of sight impairment. It will take a little while for us to label pictures with hidden captions that screen readers will pick up. We hope to complete this work by Autumn 2019.

We are grateful to those who have helped us with information and images. As we explain in ‘Acknowledgements and Take Down Notice‘, we have done our best to secure the necessary permissions and to acknowledge the sources appropriately. But if there are problems, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.
